The management of the centralized treatment has expanded from impoverished children with leukemia to all the children with leukemia, and more than 350,000 patients have benefited from the service, according to the data released by the National Health Commission (NHC).

A total of 176 provincial-level designated hospitals and 374 municipal-level designated hospitals across the country have been included in the diagnosis and treatment service network for the children suffering from leukemia.

Nearly 34,995 cases initially diagnosed as childhood leukemia in 425 designated hospitals in China had been included in the China Children's Leukemia Diagnosis and Treatment Registration Management System, till July 3, 2019.

The NHC will coordinate the medical insurance departments to implement a comprehensive medical insurance policy, strengthen the link between basic medical insurance, major disease insurance, medical assistance and charitable assistance, and work together to cut medical expenses for sick children.

In addition, China is advancing the research and development and price negotiation of general antineoplastic drugs, and it has launched special scientific and technological research programs to support the research and development of new anti-leukemia drugs.
